This series in my Almanac collection of abstract folklore art prints celebrates Lammas, the first harvest of the year. Falling at the start of August, Lammas is a festival of grain and seed. There are many customs associated with this time of year, including baking bread. Circle dancing represents the movement of the sun in the sky, a kind of sympathetic magic. Along with circles and swirls, I have used warm hues of yellows and oranges in this colourful abstract folklore art print.
These unique abstract folklore art prints are built up over multiple layers, using various screenprinting techniques until I am happy with the composition. You can see the whole collection here.
