I love folklore and mythology, and my Almanac collection of contemporary screenprints reflects that. I have selected the festival of Mabon as my starting point for this unique lilac, orange and green contemporary screenprint. Built up over multiple layers, I use various screenprinting techniques until I am happy with the composition. You can see the whole collection here.
Mabon is also known as the Autumn Equinox, the second harvest of the year. As at Spring Equinox, the day and night are of equal length. The main symbol of this date is the apple, representing life, healing and renewal. Mabon was a Welsh god figure, son of the Earth Mother goddess. The Autumn Equinox is a time for reflection.
