I love folklore and mythology, and my Almanac collection of contemporary screenprints reflects that. I have selected the festival of Mabon as my starting point for this contemporary folklore monoprint. Built up over multiple layers, I use various screenprinting techniques until I am happy with the composition. You can see the whole collection here.
Mabon is also known as the Autumn Equinox, the lengths of the day and night are equal. It is the second harvest, where fruit is gathered in following the grain harvest at Lammas. Mabon was a Welsh god, son of the Earth Mother goddess. The central symbol of this date is the apple, representing life, healing and renewal.
