My Almanac collection of folklore screenprints reflects my love of celebration, coupled with a fascination with folklore and mythology. This lilac, cream and green contemporary print represents Yule, one of the oldest winter celebrations from any country. The Solar festival of Yule lands on Winter Solstice. This is the longest night of the year. Evergreens are important at this time of year as they are associated with protection, prosperity, life and renewal. The bringing-in of greenery for decoration is still followed in modern times, with mistletoe, holly, pine and ivy all used in abundance.
