I love folklore and mythology, and my Almanac collection of contemporary art prints reflects that. I have selected the festival of Ostara as my starting point for this unique grey, peach and green contemporary monoprint. Built up over multiple layers, I use various screenprinting techniques until I am happy with the composition. You can see the whole collection here.
Ostara is also known as the Spring Equinox, the lengths of the day and night are equal. From the date of the Spring Equinox, the days get longer. This is symbolic of the light overcoming the darkness as the wheel of the year turns towards Beltane. Ostara was a Germanic goddess figure, also called Eostre. She symbolised fertility and re-birth.
